Teen Summer Reading Registration

This year the Rockaway Twp Library will have its own Teen Summer Reading program. It's a great opportunity to earn prizes for doing what most teens do during the summer -- Read!
Registration is from June 9th - June 21st. Registration forms will be available shortly. You can pick them up at the library or download them from the Teen Programs page on the library website. When you turn in your registration forms, receive a plastic book bag, bookmark, suggested reading list (fun titles only), and bingo card.

Rather than count books or pages, we'll be counting time. For every hour you read each week, receive a raffle ticket for that week's prize drawing. Read 2 hours a week, receive 2 raffle tickets; 5 hours a week, 5 raffle tickets. The more you read, the better the odds!

In addition, there will be lots of cool teen activities this summer including Creative Writing workshops, craft programs, and anime afternoons.

Schedule is as follows:

Tuesdays, grades 7+, Make it or Break it Crafts 4 Teens -- 3:30 - 5pm
Wednesdays, grades 6-8, Creative WriTeen Workshop -- 3-4pm
Wednesdays, grades 9-12, Creative WriTeen Workshop -- 4-5pm

Anime Afternoons: Tentatively 2 Fridays a month @ 4pm (TBA)

Registration for the Creative WriTeen workshops is limited to 15 students.

Spanking Shakespeare

If you haven't read Spanking Shakespeare by Jake Wizner, then you haven't read the funniest YA novel published in 07. If you have read it, then you might enjoy the obituary generator on Random House's teen site. Click here to plan your demise. Be warned, it's a raunchy read. Recommended for grades 10 and up.
